What You’ll Actually See
Bergen tends to be where most journeys start, tucked between seven hills and just as many fjords, with the old harbour houses at Bryggen still standing after centuries of fires, rebuilds, and trade. From there, things get quieter, and stranger in the best way. Flåm sits at the end of one of the narrowest, steepest fjords in the country, and the valley around it barely looks touched by anything modern. Smaller stops along the route on these Norwegian fjord tours- fishing villages, single-street towns, the odd farm clinging to a hillside, don't try to impress you. They just exist, the way they always have. That’s arguably more interesting than anywhere built for tourists. You leave with a sense of a country, not a highlight reel.
